The Lord Is With You, Mighty Warrior (Judges 6:12)

In Judges 6:12, an angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior." At this time, the Israelites were oppressed by the Midianites, and Gideon was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat in fear of their enemies. Gideon felt anything but mighty. He saw himself as the least in his family, and his family as the least in their tribe. Yet, God called him a mighty warrior and assured him of His presence.

This context is powerful because it shows that God sees us not as we see ourselves, but as He created us to be. Gideon’s story is a reminder that God calls us based on His strength and purpose, not our perceived weaknesses. Despite Gideon’s doubts and fears, God had a plan to use him to deliver Israel from their oppressors.

Today, this verse speaks directly to us. We all have moments when we feel inadequate, afraid, or insignificant. We might be facing challenges that seem overwhelming, and we can feel like hiding, just as Gideon did. However, God’s message to Gideon is the same for us: "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior." God sees beyond our fears and insecurities and calls us to step into the roles He has prepared for us.

This reflection is deeply personal. It reminds us that we are not defined by our circumstances or our self-doubt. God is with us, and His presence gives us the strength and courage to face whatever comes our way. When we trust in His power rather than our own, we can become the "mighty warriors" He sees us as. We are equipped to handle life’s battles because God is fighting with us and for us.

Reflecting on Judges 6:12 encourages us to embrace God’s perspective of who we are. It calls us to trust in His presence and His plan for our lives. As we confront our fears and challenges, let’s remember that the Lord is with us, and with Him, we are mighty warriors.
